Fire damages two-storey Prahran home

A Prahran home has been severely damaged after a fire tore through the roof.

Crews were called to the two-storey, brick home on Arkle Street at 5.31pm.

Neighbours reported seeing flames shooting through the roof and smoke billowing from the property.

Occupants were safely evacuated and there were no injuries reported.

The fire was deemed under control at 6.21pm and firefighters worked to ensure all hot spots were extinguished.

Six fire trucks and approximately 23 firefighters attended the incident.

A Community Warning was issued to advise local residents of the incident, however the smoke posed no threat to the community.

The cause has yet to be identified.
