Fire engulfs Elwood restaurant

The cause of a fire in Elwood overnight is being investigated.

MFB attended a fire call at the newly refurbished Blue Tongue restaurant on Ormond Road at 5.37am.

Crews arrived on scene at the restaurant at 5.42am to tackle the blaze in the kitchen, and quick action from them confined the fire to the kitchen and cool room area. The fire was brought under control at 6.11am.

Four appliances, one aerial, one rescue, one teleboom and 20 firefighters tackled the blaze.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
