Fire forces evacuation of 350 hotel guests in CBD

About 350 people have been evacuated from a Melbourne hotel after a fire early this morning.

Crews were called to the Atlantis Hotel on Spencer Street at 8.13am.

On arrival crews found the blaze had started in the kitchen and worked quickly to evacuate everyone enjoying brunch, before working to evacuate the rest of the hotel.

The fire was contained to an electrical board and a motor in the air handling system in the kitchen.

The fire was deemed under control at 8.25am. The evacuated people are yet to commence re-entering the hotel.

Seven appliances and about 25 firefighters attended the incident.
