Fire in Altona food factory

Firefighters battled a fire in a food production factory in Altona this morning.

Crews were called to the factory on Pinnacle Road about 3.21am.

Thanks to an aggressive attack by first arriving crews, the fire in industrial oven flue was brought under control quickly.

An aerial appliance was requested to assist crews to gain access to the roof space.

Breathing apparatus was in use.

The damage bill is expected to exceed $100,000.
