Fire in spray painting booth causes evacuations in Sunshine

A fire in a spray painting booth forced the evacuation of 15 staff from a Sunshine West factory this afternoon.

Fire crews were called to the incident at Brenco Surface Engineering, located at 171 Fairbairn Road in Sunshine West, at 2.12pm.

One person was treated at the scene by ambulance for smoke inhalation.

The fire was confined to the spray booth with most of the property saved.

The fire took just under one hour to control.

Due to the ingredients of the paint it took some time to extinguish fully.

The cost of the damage is not yet available and the cause is still under investigation.

There was some disruption the traffic in the area.

Eight appliances and approximately 22 firefighters attended the incident.
