Fire investigators to attend Bentleigh East home after blaze

Neighbours had to be evacuated after a fire in East Bentleigh overnight.

Crews were called to the Vasey Street home just after 3.30am.

The occupants on the home had evacuated safely before firefighters arrived on scene.

Additional trucks were dispatched after flames were seen shooting through the roof of the property.

Community Advice issued advising residents to close doors and windows, and turn off air conditioning.

Residents east of the event were evacuated with the assistance of Victoria Police.

The home, measuring 23 metres wide by 24 metres deep, was a single storey construction with a tiled roof.

Crews remained on scene overnight and Fire Investigators will attend this morning.
