12 Dec 2012
The single storey, brick Laverton Scout Hall, in Railway Ave Laverton, was severely damaged by fire on Tuesday evening (11/12).

MFB and CFA firefighters were quickly on scene at the 15 x 10 metres hall, following numerous grass fires in the area, in the hour preceding this fire.

Firefighters wore breathing apparatus due to the presence of asbestos in the roof. Firefighters were also able to stop the spread of fire before it entered part of the L-shaped building.

The fire is of a suspicious nature and the police are investigating.
