Fire spreads through roof of Watsonia home

Firefighters have battled a blaze in Watsonia overnight.

MFB crews were called to a fire at a single storey, brick veneer house on Todman Street at just before 4am.
On arrival the 20 metre by 10 metre property was well alight.
Crews wearing Breathing Apparatus entered the building and attacked the fire internally containing it to the centre living area of the home. The fire had also broken through into the roof space.
The occupants had evacuated safely before the arrival of MFB crews.
At 4.20am the blaze was deemed under control with the cause at this stage undetermined, MFB Fire Investigators will be attending this morning.
Estimated damage to the building is $150,000.
Police and Ambulance Victoria were in attendance.
Only working smoke alarms save lives.
