Fire takes hold of home in Viewbank

A family is safe after a house caught fire in Viewbank earlier today.

MFB firefighters were called to the property at Banyule Rd at 11:33am following a number of Triple Zero calls.

Upon arrival, crews were met with a fire in the rear half of the house. Thankfully the occupants self-evacuated before MFB arrived.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus conducted an internal attack on the fire and prevented the fire spreading to the rest of the house. .

The fire was declared under control at 12:09pm. Firefighters will remain on scene to extinguish hot spots

Two people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by Ambulance Victoria.

MFB’s fire investigator will investigate the cause of the blaze

CFA firefighters also assisted at the scene.
