In the small hours of this morning, MFB firefighters battled a suspicious blaze at an adult entertainment venue in Caulfield South.

Firefighters were called to the scene on Glen Huntly Road just after 3am following reports of an explosion sparking a large fire with 20 metre high flames.

Crews arrived to find the roof fully engulfed. Eight residents from a nearby apartment complex were evacuated as a safety precaution.

It took 30 firefighters an hour to bring the blaze under control.

No one was injured and Victoria Police will investigate the incident.
