MFB firefighters made quick work at a factory fire that broke out in Campbellfield this morning.

Crews were called to the Lara Way premises at 7:07am after a caller raised the alarm. Upon arrival, firefighters were met with a 70mx70m building producing a significant amount of smoke.

More than 30 firefighters in breathing apparatus battled the blaze using aerial appliances.

The quick work of the crews brought the fire under control at 8:21am.

There is still smoke in the area which is being blown in a north east direction. If affected by smoke, close windows and doors, turn off heating and cooling and seek medical advice.

Emergency services are expected to be conducting their operations for some time and community members are advised to avoid the area if possible.

It’s believed about six people self-evacuated prior to MFB’s arrival and there are no reported injuries.

At this stage it’s not yet known what caused the fire to start.
