MFB firefighters have spent the morning battling a large factory fire in Heidelberg West.

A passer by saw thick smoke billowing out of the building about 6.30am and raised the alarm.
Crews arrived on scene to find the Bamfield Road photocopier recycling factory fully involved and the fire threatening neighbouring buildings.
Using aggressive fire fighting tactics, firefighters managed to contain the fire to the initial factory and save others from destruction.
The fire has now been extinguished.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined and fire investigators will attend the scene this morning to determine the cause.
