MFB firefighters saved a home from fire damage last night, after a large 8x10m shed at the rear of the property caught fire.

Shortly before 11pm on Monday evening, firefighters were called to Keith Crescent in Broadmeadows following numerous calls to Triple Zero (000).

Eight appliances from Broadmeadows, Thomastown, Pascoe Vale, Footscray, Northcote, and other Fire Stations were despatched to the scene, with initial crews arriving within three minutes.

On arrival the crews found the shed was well alight and spreading to an adjacent shed.

Approximately 23 firefighters fought hard to contain the blaze, and managed to get the fire under control in 25 minutes.

A community advice warning was issued as Keith Crescent was closed so that emergency services could attend the scene. Surrounding roads have since reopened.

Specialist MFB Fire Investigators are in attendance this morning to determine the cause of the blaze, and the local building surveyor has been requested due to concerns regarding the stability of the remaining structure.
