Firefighters clear Yarra River oil slick

Firefighters helped clear a mystery oil slick from the Yarra River yesterday.

Crews were called to Southbank near the Spencer Street Bridge at 11.30am after a reports of a spill of a substance on the Yarra River between Spencer Street and Kings Way, Melbourne.

Initial tests by the brigade found the spill was unlikle to pose a serious risk.

Specialist Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operators used the devide to get an aerial perspective of the incident.

On advice from the EPA the spill was dispersed by fire brigade boats.
