Firefighters contain chemical spill at Melbourne Airport

MFB crews contained a chemical leak at Melbourne Airport overnight.

Firefighters and specialist hazmat crews were called to the airport about 11pm on Thursday 2 July after a call was received from the Airport Fire Service to assist with a small chemical leak.

The product was found in the cargo hold of a Qantast A380 aircraft after passengers disembarked.

MFB and CFA crews and hazmat technicians acted under the direction of the Scientific Officer. The spill took approximately 90 minutes to contain.
