21 Mar 2015
Firefighters worked to contain a unit fire from spreading to neighbouring properties in Fawkner over the weekend.

Crews were called to the scene on Saturday 21 March just before midnight. An appliance was close by attending an earlier event when they received a call for this unit fire.

On arrival, they found the single storey unit of brick and tile construction was totally involved in fire. It took 40 minutes to control.

Firefighters worked extremely hard to stop the fire spreading to adjoining properties and a car nearby.

The damage bill is expected to exceed $120,000.

Breathing apparatus was in use.

The cause will be investigated.
