back to list
29 Mar 2016
MFB firefighters are on scene at Swanson Dock in West Melbourne, following a chemical spill onboard a cargo ship.

Firefighters were called about 12.30am and were waiting at the Oliphant Street dock when the ship arrived at 2am.

Two containers on the ship are leaking an acetetate and crews have used an absorbent to neutralise and contain the spill.

The area around the ship has been cordoned off and at this stage, there isn't believed to be any risk to anyone in the area.

30 firefighters are on scene and are expected to remain until mid morning.
