24 Jul 2019
Approximately 30 firefighters responded to a house fire on Gertrude Street in St Albans, after receiving several Triple Zero (000) calls from neighbouring residents.

Upon arrival at the single storey home, MFB crews were faced with a significant amount of smoke and fire coming from the property.

Using breathing apparatus firefighters entered the house to search for occupants.

Crews quickly commenced an internal attack on the fire, which they managed to contain to the front of the property.

Due to a rapid response by MFB crews, the fire was declared under control less than 10 minutes after firefighters arrived on scene.

The exact cause of the fire is unknown and will be investigated by MFB’s specialist Fire Investigation Unit.
