Firefighters stop spread of garage fire in Maribyrnong

MFB firefighters were called to a blaze which took hold of a 10x10m garage at a property on Rosamond Road in Maribyrnong just before 8am this morning.

Following multiple Triple Zero (000) calls from members of the public, MFB crews were despatched and arrived on scene in 5 minutes to find the detached dwelling fully alight.

Firefighters managed to control the blaze in less than 23 minutes. Approximately 24 firefighters worked quickly and efficiently to stop the fire from spreading to the house and neighbouring properties.

The South bound lanes of Rosamond Road between River and Mitchell Streets are currently closed and people are advised to avoid the area if possible.

Thankfully, there are no reports of injury, and Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria are on scene assisting.

MFB crews are expected to remain on scene for some time to fully extinguish the blaze.  

MFB’s specialist Fire Investigation Unit are currently on scene are on scene working to determine a cause.
