Several calls were received for a shed fire between residential units in Nelson Street just after 10:00am

Several calls were received for a shed fire between residential units in Nelson Street, Ringwood just after 10:00am this morning, with reports of large volumes of smoke and flames issuing from the building.

Upon arrival, MFB crews upgraded the response due to the proximity of the garage fire to neighbouring residential units.

Firefighters wearing Breathing Apparatus attacked the garage blaze, which had also spread to a bedroom of an adjoining residential unit.

An occupant of the unit was evacuated.

The garage contained two trailers that were heavily laden with timber, making extinguishing the fire difficult.

The fire scene has been deemed suspicious and Victoria Police are on scene investigating.

The fire was declared under control after 34 minutes and crews will remain on scene for some time.
