Firefighters tackle bedroom fire at Gatwick Hotel, St Kilda

Fire quickly extinguished and all residents accounted for

Just before 4am today, MFB received a fire call for the Gatwick Hotel, St Kilda.

Arriving on the scene within five minutes they were met with a large amount of smoke omitting from a fire in a basement bedroom.
MFB firefighters in breathing apparatus quickly brought the fire under control, and around 50 residents were evacuated.
Ambulance Victoria attended to treat two people for smoke inhalation and all residents have been accounted for.
The scene has been handed over to the Police.
