Firefighters tackle large blaze at Campbellfield paper factory

MFB and CFA fire crews joined forces to extinguish a raging fire at a paper recycling factory.

Just before midday on January 20, firefighters were called to Visyboard Recycling in Campbellfield.

The fire involved a large section of about 800 tonnes of recycled paper in two stacks, separated by a concrete wall.

More than fifty firefighters, included 13 MFB units and two CFA pumpers, contained the blaze to an open area measuring 50m by 100m.

Each of the one tonne paper rolls was removed separately and opened up to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.

This procedure took hours to complete. however the fire was deemed under control in two hours.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
