A vacant house in Brighton East was severely damaged by fire on Monday 17 March.

The neighbouring properties were at risk and steps were taken to prevent the spread of fire to  them.

It took approximately 20 minutes to bring the fire under control.

Precautions were taken due to the suspected presence of asbestos.

The damage is expected to exceed $150,000.

The cause of the fire has deemed to be suspicious and police will be investigating.
