23 Nov 2015
Firefighters have battled a grassfire in South Melbourne early this morning.

The blaze occurred at 5.05am on the corner of Sturt and Power streets, adjacent to the Domain Tunnel exit.

Citylink were advised and used their fans to stop smoke entering the tunnel.

The fire was quickly extinguished and crews checked the area with a thermal imaging camera.

This is a timely reminder that grass fires don't just happen in the bush, and can occur in city and suburban areas. Learn more at bit.ly/mfbfirerisk
