Fireys halt spread of fire in Brunswick

Police will investigate a suspicious fire in Brunswick, which threatened neighbouring properties this morning.

A single storey brick house in Hickford Street, Brunswick has been gutted by fire this morning.
Firefighters were called to the property about 3.30am.
The fully involved house was threatening to spread onto an apartment building next door. MFB Firefighters were successful in protecting this property and another nearby home from damage.
It is believed that the home is unoccupied. MFB Firefighters searched the bedrooms and rear of the house, but have been unable to access the centre of the house due to structural collapse.
The fire took 30 minutes to bring under control. No injuries have occurred.
MFB Firefighters will be remaining on duty throughout the morning continuing to extinguish and maintain general fire duties.
The fire has been deemed of a suspicious nature and police have been informed.
