Flames shoot through roof at Reservoir house fire

Firefighters have battled a house fire in Reservoir this afternoon.

Crews were called to the Leamington Street home about 3.23pm.

On arrival the single storey weatherboard house was fully involved with flames issuing from the roof.

Crews wearing Breathing apparatus were forced to attack the fire defensively due to limited access and an aerial appliance was used to extinguish the fire in the roof area.

The owners were home at the time of the fire and had evacuated, the home has extensively damaged by the fire.

Due to Asbestos present in the building construction crews implemented decontamination procedures onsite to reduce risk fire fighters and the public.

Damaged is estimated at approximately $400,000 the cause of the fire is being investigated.

Police and AV along with power and gas companies attended.
