26 Sep 2014
MFB crews are currently at a gas leak at a shopping centre in Chadstone.

Emergency services were called to the Dandenong Road premises shortly before 10.35am after shoppers reported a strong smell of gas.

A ruptured gas main was located outside the centre near Myer and MFB crews are currently working to contain it.

At this stage it may be some time before the leak is contained and MFB will continue to provide updates where possible.

Patrons have been evacuated from a number of areas within the shopping centre as a precaution.

There are no reports of anyone being affected by the gas.

Traffic in the area, predominantly along Dandenong and Warrigal Roads, will be impacted while crews remain on scene.
