Gas leak in Port Melbourne

MFB crews are currently on scene in Port Melbourne following a high pressure gas leak.

It's believed the incident occurred when a pipe was ruptured during works on Princes Street.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 11am and are currently working to disperse the gas.

Several properties in the area have been evacuated as a precaution.

It's anticipated that emergency services will be on scene for some time and community members are advised to avoid the area.
