02 Sep 2019
MFB is currently on scene in South Melbourne following a gas leak.

It's believed a digger hit a gas main in Clarendon Street, triggering the leak about 11am.

MFB specialist hazardous materials technicians are on scene monitoring levels of gas.

In the meantime, a number of nearby businesses have been evacuated as a precaution and Clarendon Street has been closed between Dorcas and Bank streets.

It's expected that this may be a protracted incident and community members are advised to avoid the area.
