MFB firefighters were called to a house fire on Ascot Court in Glen Waverley just after 9am.

Following several calls to Triple Zero (000), approximately 30 firefighters responded to the premises which was issuing a large amount of smoke.

Crews arrived on scene within seven minutes and conducted an initial search of the residence to ensure there were no occupants inside.

Fortunately, all occupants had safely evacuated prior to MFB’s arrival.

Thanks to the efforts of firefighters, the fire was declared under control less than half an hour after their arrival.

Crews are expected to remain on scene for some time to ensure all hot spots are extinguished.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria are assisting MFB on scene.

At this stage the cause of the fire is unknown.
