Grass fire sends smoke over Hume Hwy in Lalor

MFB and CFA firefighters have battled a grass fire in difficult terrain in Lalor.

Crews were called to the grassland along Hume Highway just before 5pm.
Access proved difficult and additional crews were requested because of the difficult terrain and poor water supply to appliances on scene.
The fire was visible to motorists on the Hume Hwy but posed no threat.
A public notification has been issued for smoke in the area around the Hume Highway at this location.
All appliances will be on scene for some time.
