HAZMAT called to Melbourne Airport

MFB crews responded to a chemical leak at Melbourne airport just before 10am this morning.

The unknown liquid was identified in the drum in cargo area of a passanger plane.

MFB HAZMAT unit worked together with Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) to safely evacuate all passengers and tow away the plane.

MFB identified the substance as non-threatening and removed it from the aircraft.

Ambulance Victoria paramedics treated patients at the scence as a precaution.
