19 Mar 2018
A large number of calls have been made to triple-zero following a HAZMAT incident in Epping this morning.

MFB and CFA firefighters are in attendance at Gateway Boulevard after numerous reports were made of a strong smell of gas in the Northern suburbs.

The gas smell extended across multiple suburbs including Thomastown, Epping, Reservoir, Northcote and Preston.

The substance is not believed to be gas but an additive that is put in LPG to make it smell.

It's not believed the source of the smell will cause any risk however MFB recommends that if any member of the public feels any form of illness or has health concerns they should seek medical advice.

Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police also assisted.
