Hawthorn Fire Suspicious

A fire in Carrington Street, Hawthorn this morning (16 June) has been deemed suspicious and is under investigation by Victoria Police.

MFB units were called at 5.42am to a block of flats after an alarm was triggered.

The sprinkler system helped contain the fire to the bottom floor flat. Six fire trucks and around 20 fire fighters brought the blaze quickly under control.

All the occupants of the building were evacuated and a 42 year-old woman was taken to hospital with minor smoke inhalation.
