Highpoint's Target store evacuated after fire

The Target at Highpoint was evacuated this morning after a fire in the paper compactor.

Crews were called to the scene at 9.14am after smoke was seen issuing from the loading bay.

On arrival they found a fire in the paper compactor and worked quickly to extinguish it.

Fifty staff and shoppers were evacuated from the store and sprinklers operated in some areas.

The fire was deemed under control in under 15 minutes.

Two fire trucks attended the incident.
