22 Aug 2018
Firefighters have stopped an aggressive blaze from spreading to the front of the second story of a home in Rosamond Court in Doncaster East this afternoon.

Shortly before 4:30pm, approximately 24 firefighters were called to the scene after multiple calls to Triple Zero (000).

The resident reported the blaze and thankfully helped his elderly father to safety.

Unfortunately the resident sustained burns to his hands and has been transported to hospital in the care of Ambulance Victoria.

Initial firefighting crews arrived at the home and found that the rear ground storey was well alight, and extra support was quickly dispatched.

At the peak of the fire there were seven fire trucks at the scene. Firefighters commenced an internal attack on the fire and managed to control the blaze in just 21 minutes.

Firefighters are expected to remain at the scene throughout the night.

At this stage what caused the fire is not yet known. MFB’s specialist Fire Investigation Unit will attend when possible to analyse the cause.
