MFB firefighters were swift on the scene following a fire in an Indian restaurant in Brunswick last night.

The blaze began in the kitchen range hood of the Sydney Road restaurant about 6.15pm and quickly spread up into the chimney.

Crews quickly extinguished the fire and spent an hour on scene, making sure the blaze had not spread into the roof.

Luckily, no one was injured in the incident and the premises were handed back to the owners by 7.30pm.
