Hot oil left on stove leads to house blaze

A pot of hot oil left unattended has caused a fire that has virtually destroyed a single storey weatherboard house this morning.

The fire was through the roof when MFB firefighters arrived on scene with the sole occupant trying to fight the fire with a garden hose. The damage bill has been estimated at $240,000.
