Female occupant treated for smoke inhalation in house fire in Ashburton

The MFB attended a single-storey house fire at 4.24am this morning, after a neighbour reported a fire in the front bedroom of the house at Victory Boulevard, Ashburton.

Inital MFB crews assessed the situation and requested additional resources, bringing the total number of firefighters to 19 and seven fire trucks, including an aerial appliance.

The fire was deemed under control in 30 minutes, and fire damage was contained to the bedroom and roof area with heavy smoke logging to the remainder of building.

The 41-year-old female occupant was treated at the scene by Ambulance Victoria paramedics for smoke inhalation and transported to hospital.

MFB fire investigators are investigating the cause of the fire.

Police and Ambulance Victoria attended.
