House fire in Balwyn

MFB is currently at a fire in Balwyn.

Firefighters were called to the house on Raynes Street about 12pm after Triple Zero (000) callers reported smoke issuing from the rear of the property and heard windows breaking.

Crews rushed to the scene to find a two-storey weatherboard house in flames.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the burning building to check for occupants.

A man was evacuated from the house and treated by paramedics while firefighters continued their search.

The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes.

The cause of the blaze will be investigated.
