25 May 2018
Crews were called to a single-storey weatherboard house in Barnes Ave at 12:47pm this afternoon.

Firefighters arrived in four minutes to find the fire spreading into the home's roof.

A search of the building confirmed no one was home at the time.

Firefighters in Breathing Apparatus attacked the fire internally to stop it spreading further into the roof, containing the blaze to two bedrooms and a bathroom.

The rest of the home was severely damaged by smoke.

The blaze was deemed under control in 28 minutes.

Damage is estimated at more than $100,000.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria also assisted on scene.

MFB Fire Investigators will attend to determine the cause.
