MFB firefighters have made quick work of a house fire in Fawkner this afternoon.

Crews arrived at the McDougall Street address just before 3.15pm to find a fire in the roof and at the rear of the home.

Luckily, all occupants had self-evacuated and were uninjured.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus battled the blaze internally and were able to bring it under control in just 20 minutes.

The cause of the fire will be investigated.
