11 Jan 2019
MFB crews were called to a home in Heidelberg at 3:30pm this afternoon after a Triple Zero (000) caller noticed smoke coming from the roof.

The first appliance arrived at the property on Lancewood Ave in five minutes to find the 12 by 25 metre single story house producing a significant amount of smoke.

Firefighters faced some challenges extinguishing the fire due to a large amount of contents in the home but were able to contain the blaze to the front section of the house.

The fire was deemed under control in just over 30 minutes.

The sole occupant of the home self-evacuated before crews arrived and was treated for smoke inhalation by Ambulance Victoria.

The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical issue.
