back to list
26 Mar 2015
A house in Leicester St Preston was significantly damaged by fire overnight

MFB fire crews arrived to find the fire in an advanced state and impinging on an adjoining fence and neighbouring house.  An aggressive attack by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus prevented any further spread and contained the fire to one room.

There was one person at home at the time who suffered minor smoke inhalation.  She was treated at the scene by Ambulance Victoria paramedics.

Damage to the building and contents is estimated be up to $100,000.  The cause of the fire is suspected to be an electrical fault.  Working smoke alarms were present.
