18 Nov 2017
MFB firefighters are in attendance at a house fire in Berkeley Street, Huntingdale.

Multiple crews were despatched following a number of calls to triple-zero around 5:45pm.

The fire involved a single-storey weatherboard house.

On arrival crews found the front and roof section of the house well alight.

There was also a danger of fire spread to one nearby property.

The fire was declared under control at 6:20pm.

Neighbours reported to firefighters that the occupants were away on holiday and a search of the property revealed no one was inside.

Fire investigators have determined that the fire was caused by a gas leak from a pipe. The gas was ignited by a power surge in the street.
