Approximately 28 firefighters were responded to a house fire on Edwin Street in Ivanhoe, shortly before 7:00pm.

MFB crews arrived on scene within five minutes, following reports of flames issuing from the roof of a single storey home.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters immediately conducted an internal search of the house to ensure no residents were inside.

Fortunately, both occupants had self-evacuated prior to MFB’s arrival.

The blaze was brought under control less than ten minutes after firefighters arrived at the scene.

The exact cause of the fire is unknown at this stage and will be investigated.
