Kensington unit fire

MFB firefighters are currently on scene in Kensington following a suspicous fire in a top floor unit.

Crews were called to the Derby Street address at 11am and quickly managed to contain the fire to a single unit on the top floor of the apartment building.

Firefighters got the fire under control within 20 minutes and are now checking neighbouring units to ensure the fire has not spread.

A number of people were evacuated from the apartment block as a safety precaution.

Victoria Police will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
