17 Oct 2017
MFB firefighters have been on the scene of a house fire in Kew East overnight.

Crews responded to the blaze following a number of calls which reported there was smoke coming from the roof, however the first Officer on scene escalated the response as he reported flames had extended through the roof and the house  was well alight.

At this stage multiple triple-zero calls had been received as the house backed on to the freeway.

Firefighters launched an aggressive attack on the fire that was mainly in the second level and into the roof space.

A Teleboom was also used to fight the fire from above.

It took crews about 40 minutes to bring the fire under control.

All occupants of the house self evacuated.

At this stage a cause is yet to be determined and fire investigators will be attending.
