Lab explosion forces evacuation of 150 people in Clayton

Almost 150 people have been evacuated after an explosion at a laboratory in Clayton this afternoon.

Fire crews were called to the lab in McNaughton Road about 2.30pm.

When crews arrive they found there had been an explosion and subsequent fire in a second storey laboratory.

Approximately 150 people were evacuated and initially three people were missing. They were quickly located and all staff have been accounted for.

Specialist hazmat crews an a Scientific Officer have been dispatched to the scene.

The cause of the explosion has not yet been identified.
