01 Aug 2018
Three residents have had a lucky escape from their Seabrook home this morning. MFB crews were called to the home on Shane Avenue at 11:15am following a number of calls to Triple Zero (000).

Initial crews from Laverton Fire Station arrived on scene in just three minutes and were confronted by a fire which had ripped through the roof of the brick dwelling.

Approximately 24 MFB Firefighters and seven appliances from Laverton, Altona, and South Melbourne Fire Stations, and a crew of CFA firefighters from Hoppers Crossing fought hard and managed to contain the blaze in less than 20 minutes.

Thankfully, three occupants managed to self-evacuate from the home and are currently working with Victoria Police to organise emergency accommodation.

MFB specialist Fire Investigation Unit will attend the scene as soon as possible to determine the cause of the blaze.

The local council building inspector has been called to the scene following fears for the building’s structural integrity.

Ambulance Victoria paramedics and Victoria Police are currently on scene assisting Firefighters.
